Law.com: X Joins Legal Attack on California’s New Deepfakes Law

On Thursday, lawyers for Attorney General Rob Bonta and Secretary of State Shirley Weber filed a stipulation agreeing to temporarily stay enforcement of AB 2655 given that no state election is scheduled until the 2026 primary. Rickert, The Babylon Bee and Kohls told the court that given the state’s agreement they would not immediately seek a preliminary injunction.

Hamilton Lincoln Law Institute, the same firm representing Kohls in his California suit, has also sued to block enforcement of a new Minnesota law that bans the sharing of election-related content created by artificial intelligence.
