The Hamilton Lincoln Law Institute filed an amicus brief on behalf of Concerned Women for America (“CWA”) and Women’s Liberation Front (“WoLF”) in support of the State of Indiana’s appeal of an order preliminarily enjoining enforcement of an Indiana law that allows participation in single-sex sports teams based on a student’s biological sex at birth. The brief detailed how single-sex sports are necessary to provide equal opportunities for and treatment of women and Title IX is specifically intended to achieve this goal.
On January 19, 2023, the Seventh Circuit dismissed the appeal pursuant to the parties’ request after the plaintiff student enrolled in a charter school not operated by the school district, thus mooting the case.
